Based on insights into mechanism of cardiac regeneration, Velakor is developing CAM-6019, a recombinant human Agrin, as a regenerative agent for cardiovascular diseases. Velakor was able to demonstrate preclinical PoC in rodent and porcine models, establish manufacturing process and demonstrated safety. o The current standard of care in many cardiovascular diseases is symptom management and secondary prevention, lacking regenerative therapies. Velakor technology is based on the finding that Agrin, an ECM protein that is essential and sufficient for cardiac regeneration. Recombinant Agrin serves as a transformative agent, reducing\/ reversing cardiac damage, thereby reducing morbidity, mortality and the need for the current SOC. o Velakor is currently at the preclinical stage, situated to start GMP grade CMC and IND enabling GLP safety work.
