May is a month of major international gatherings in Israel exploring the latest in food, biomedical and agricultural technologies.

On May 7, some 1,000 entrepreneurs, investors, food-industry executives, government officials, researchers and service providers from Israel, Europe, Asia and America are expected at FoodTechIL, the main event of the Israeli food-tech ecosystem. As part of the event in Tel Aviv, 50 food-tech startups will pitch their ideas to food-and beverage multinationals Givaudan, Bühler, Pepsico, Danone, Migros and Strauss. FoodTechIL is organized by The Kitchen Hub, a technological incubator owned by the Strauss Group.

The following day, the three-day 20th International Agro Technology Exhibition & Conference (Agritech Israel) gets underway at the Tel Aviv Fairgrounds. A professional conference and Innovation Pavilion are planned under the theme “Agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions.”

The previous Agritech, in 2015, drew 28,000 visitors including 12,000 from abroad.

Leading up to Agritech, the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and its Volcani Center-Agricultural Research Organization hosted 51 foreign ambassadors at an exhibition demonstrating the latest agricultural technological — such as an autonomous spraying robot, new wheat varieties uniquely cultivated for hot climates, thermal photography for farmers, a machine for sorting avocados and controlled capture of the Mediterranean fly.

At the Tel Aviv Port on May 8, the fifth annual AgriVest will showcase Israeli agrifood technology to international investors and industry leaders. This conference is an initiative of The Trendlines Group, GreenSoil Investments and Israel New Tech of the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry. Guests from Holland, China, India, Israel, Germany, New Zealand and the United States are among the speakers, and there will be a Best Israeli Agtech Company Competition.

On May 15-17, the 17th MIXiii-Biomed Conference and Exhibition will be held at the David InterContinental Hotel in Tel Aviv.

This year’s conference will be divided into nine tracks: Digital Health, IoT, and Big Data; Next Generation Oncology Treatments; Brain Health; Personalized Diagnostics and Treatments; Gene Editing, Rare Genetic Diseases and Gene Therapy; Nanomedicine and its Role in New Medical Therapeutics; From Academia Research to Industry; Cutting Edge Medical Device Technologies: Metabolic, Ophthalmology; and Novel Clinical Trial Designs and Technologies to Accelerate Drug Development.

Previous MIXiii-Biomed conferences hosted more than 6,000 industry executives, scientists, doctors, engineers and investors, including approximately 1,000 international participants from 45 countries.

The Academicsera International Conference on Pharma and Food will be held May 21-22 in Jerusalem.
